(3/3) “I feel like my story is a little unique because I did go back to work after that 12 weeks, and was able to successfully keep breastfeeding through the first year. I know sometimes when people aren’t able to have daycare on site, supplementing with formula often happens. The support makes such a big difference. Originally, I wanted to breastfeed a year. And now we are past that. Reading online about the immune system and all the benefits to continuing, I have readjusted my goal to 18 months. Ultimately, I plan to continue till it’s no longer enjoyable for both of us. She’s already started weaning herself a bit; we now go the whole work day without breastfeeding, and she skips the lunch nursing, but we are still breastfeeding on demand whenever we are together.”
