(3/4) “I was adopted, and my adoptive mom thinks the whole breastfeeding thing is weird. I think she is grossed out by it because she is one of those people who, if it’s something she’s not familiar with, she labels it was a weird choice. She just kept saying, “You can quit any time you know? You don’t have to breastfeed.” Now she keeps saying that my eldest daughter is really smart “because she had all that DHA in the formula.” She is relieved we are giving my youngest formula before bed now, so “now she can be smart too.” I just respond as best I can, I say “That’s not how any of this works mom!” She’s just uninformed. I’ve tried to inform her, but my mom is over 60 and I think kind of set in her own opinions at this point."
