(2/3) “I used a nipple shield for 2 months. It was hard getting a good latch that wasn’t horribly painful; even with the shield, it still hurt. Once I acclimated to the shield, I started slowly weaning off it. It was a rough transition. That first 2-3 months felt like I was nursing through gritted teeth. Eventually it got easier, and nursing went really well for us for a long time until he started getting teeth. So our journey went from painful, to great, then back to being really painful again. I don’t know how I’ve managed to continue nursing through 7 teeth. We are now working on weaning, and have introduced bottles. At first, I was pumping, and doing breastmilk bottles, and then we slowly introduced formula. He still nurses daily and has maybe 1-2 bottles during the day, but for the most part, he isn’t really interested. He’s eating a lot of solid food, and is a really great eater now.”
