(1/3) “I had a really difficult birth. We had planned a water birth with midwives. When I was 8 days overdue, I went to the hospital in false labor, and they ended up inducing because her heart rate kept dropping. I was induced for 4 and a half days, and by the time she was almost two weeks overdue I was begging for a C-section, even though it had originally been the furthest thing from my birth plan. I took it as her way of teaching me that I am no longer in control of timelines or situations. Right after they put her on my belly, she went right up to my breast to latch. It was the joke while we were in the hospital, every time a nurse would come in, they would say “she is nursing again!?” and I just assumed it was normal. It turned out she had a tongue tie and she was really struggling with her latch. She lost weight, and my nipples were red and bleeding. But once it was corrected she started doing great and our breastfeeding relationship has been amazing ever since.”
